Destined to become the "Diamond" from Collin County in 2035 there are big plans in store for the master-planned town of Prosper.
How can you improve on a city for years of steady growth, consistently maintained its small town charm, and provided equipment quality to its residents. This includes one of the most sought after public school systems with s student-teacher ratio of 12:1.
A growth spurt is important cards Prosper. In fact, an estimated current population of 7116 should reach 85,000 by year 2035. Reporting a recent meeting on economic development in Prosper describes a number of improvements and additions in the budget for years to come.
Highlights of this development are:
1. The Gates of Prosper is a town center is 475-acre developmed by Dallas Cowboy owner, Jerry Jones and Lincoln Prperty, Co. Located at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 380 and Preston Road (289), this will be the beginning of the evolution major distribution groups in this area. In fact, this should be one of the corridors leading distributors of Collin County.
City Center (with a cost estimated 500 million dollars), has 2.5 million square feet of commercial space, offices, banks, apartments, condominiums and will be the focus the new Prosper Municipal Center. Also included are various recreation areas, green spaces, parks and lakes. The first phase will include the opening of 500,000 square feet of retail in 2011. All four corners at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 380 and Preston Road (289) should be developed.
2. A modern 12,000-seat high school football and athletics stadium to go with the High New School (hailed as one of the most modern state).
3. A multi sports field complex for soccer, baseball and softball.
4. The Jack Nicklaus designed, BearsBrook Golf Club. Scheduled to open in autumn 2010, over 225 hectares is located in the center of a development of 1,400 acres includes three gated communities and 223 acres of mixed-use property along Highway 380.
BearsBrook will utlilize the many features its natural course design, and will be arranged on each side of Rutherford Creek, situated amidst a forest of hardwoods. Golfers will not ever cross a road to get from tee to start and estate properties will be set back 250 feet through the holes. This is considered a "golf club pure with no pools or tennis courts, and members will not require tee times. A club more traditional country families will be constructed nearby. BearsBrook members will have automatic access, but members of the club of countries will not have access to BearsBrook.
5. Many extensions of road are planned to accommodate commercial developments. Hwy. 380 will expand to 6 lanes, Prosper Trails will be expanded to 4 lanes, and toll road North Dallas will extend through Prosper. This not only makes it easier for residents to travel Prosper, while encouraging a free shuttle to nearby towns.
6. A development of 22 million big-box retail is planned for the 40-acre site northwest of U.S. 380 and North Custer Road. The 355,000 square feet "Prospect Plaza with a large clothing store and many small retailers is expected to serve Prosper, Frisco and McKinney ..
